  • All CSL class size will be limited to 16 students per class.
  • Possible class make-up for 2013-12014 : CSL0A-- 0 to 100 hrs of learning (5-7 yrs old), CSL0B– 60 to 150 hrs of learning (6-8 yrs old), CSL1A– 120 to 220 hrs of learning (7-11 yrs old)
  • The topic of simplified characters versus traditional characters was discussed. There are less than 150 characters that are simplified. The goal is to get the kids used to traditional characters from the start and traditional characters will be introduced in more advanced levels. For AP Chinese test, both types of characters will be tested. One interesting thing to note is that China is recently transitioning back to full use of traditional Chinese characters.

  • Children’s Chinese Competency Certification will be introduced next year for all CSLB and above students. Typically takes place at the end of April. Levels of testing include: Sprouting(Basic) : 150 hrs of Chinese Training, Seeding(Intermediate): 300 hrs of Chinese Training, Blossoming(Advanced): 450 hrs of Chinese Training. Will open for all CSL0B and above students.
