Principal's message 09-01-2017

Message from Principal – Alisa Hsiao

Dear SVCS Teachers, Parents and Students,

What a great start to kick off the 2017-18 school year last Friday.
Many thanks to all the help from our wonderful parents, staff, and teachers.

Each class will host their own  their teacher-parent meeting this
Friday. Please plan to attend on time. Attending the meeting will earn you a service point also is a great
opportunity for parents to know each other, plan what to do for the year, and communicate with
your teacher in person. I am sure the teacher will share with you lots of thoughts and parents may bring
up their concerns as well.

With the existing success in many aspects of SVCS, I am sure the entire staff team will contribute their
best effort to make our school even better.
During the summer break, in addition to conducting several meetings with all our teachers,
class representatives, new parents, our staff and board members have been brainstorming together
to come up with various innovation plans for the new school year, such as,integrating volunteering entry and service point lookup system, digitizing all teaching and administrative documents, etc.

We are very fortunate to have 43 experienced teachers this year, including three new teachers: Ms.Maggie Yen, Ms.Yu Huei Lin, and  Ms.Huei Fang Rei. Mrs. Welcome aboard!
Mrs.Amy Huang, Mrs.Yenli Yuan, and Mr.Wesley Chen will be SVCS Vice Principals.Welcome aboard!

Dear parents,
It's time to say good bye. This Friday will be the last school day of year 2016-17.
I am very fortunate to have a bunch groups of well established staff teams to help me run the school in order.Huge support from our board members and advisors are always there whenever I seek for their assistance.
Teachers at Silicon Valley Chinese School are the most important assets for our community. They devote their efforts and time teaching students to pass down the Chinese culture and history .Please give your teacher a hug or thank them for what they have done for you this school year.
On behalf of SVCS teachers and staff, wish everyone has a nice, safe and joyful summer time!
See you on August!

Dear SVCS Teachers, Parents and Students,

The returning student enrollment for the 2017-18 school year has been processed efficiently by the Registration team. At this point, there are 500 students who have completed their enrollment.

For those who did not submit your form/check on April 7 and, if you change your mind and would like to continue with SVCS, you’re welcome to do so before the school year ends to avoid the higher new student Registration fee. We plan to host two placement tests during the upcoming summer. The first one will be held in the West Valley library branch (1243 SanTomas Aquino Road, San Jose 95117) on June 11 and the date and place of the second one will be determined and announced soon.

Dear SVCS Teachers, Parents and Students,

As school proceeds to the second semester, parents please click the link in the Service Point Report Section below and find out the number of service points you have accumulated so far. In the case of any discrepancies, please stop by the SVCS Office or send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for further verification with us.

As a non-profit organization, SVCS service point system is meant to encourage everyone to participate in school activities. Per the SVCS parent handbook, if you did not fulfill the service points you needed to for last year or paid $20 per shortage point, the enrollment of your child(ren) for next school year will be put on hold until the balance is cleared. We’ve been enforcing that for years and it won’t be an exception this year.

Should you need more service points or not sure how many points you need to fulfill,  please stop by the office and simply let the staff know that you need more service points. I am sure the staff would be more than happy to assist you. We always appreciate your volunteering as it truly moves SVCS forward!

Thank you so much.
