Board meeting will be held on the second Friday of the month, 7:15pm at room 101. Open to all parents.

President Message 03/27/2020

First, I thank all teachers, parents, students, and school volunteers for your hard work and to kick start our first ever online visual learning last Friday. Despite some minor glitches, everything went well, and all our children were able to continue their Chinese education without interruption during this difficult time.
Secondly, I would like to express my appreciation for your understanding and apologize for all the inconveniences due to shelter-in-place order and the campus closure of Lynbrook high school.
Last but not the least, I encourage parents, students and teachers to communicate each other and to make this temporary learning platform as smooth as possible. Should you need any support from the school, please feel free to contact school volunteers anytime.

President Message 03/13/2020

In light of the latest COVID-19 development with consideration of both students and teachers’ well beings, school has proactively working with teachers to look into the feasibility of online teaching. As for this week, our volunteer IT group has begun initial testing and is coordinating with teachers to iron out many technical details. Should there is a mandatory school closure, we will be able to continue our Chinese education for our students. In the meantime, parents are advised to remind their children to wash their hands frequently. If your children have any physical discomfort, please have them stay home and get well. School and teachers will work with them to make up the missing class.

By the way, after emergency meeting summoned by Association of Northern California Chinese School this weekend, the decision was made to cancel the Northern California Academic Competition on March 22nd. Our apology to all the participating students, parents, and teachers for their efforts in preparing this event. We are putting our students’ health as top priority and decided to go for drastic measure. I am assuring you it was not an easy decision.

Should you have any suggestion to school’s contingency measure, please feel free to contact us. We are open to all comments and ideas.

President Message 03/06/2020

The surge of new coronavirus infections in the United States has caused panic among many people. Silicon Valley Chinese School is also paying close attention to the latest development. We are working closely with our teachers to revise our contingency plan accordingly. Should there are any changes in class arrangement, we will inform all parents immediately. In the meantime, please do not panic and overreact. We are assuring all of the SVCS families we will do our best to mitigate the impact of school while putting our kids’ well beings as top priority.

Due to the uncertainty of the infectivity of the new coronavirus, the school has decided to postpone 2/14 Health, 3/13 Education and 3/27 Financial seminars to the next school year. We apologize for any inconvenience.

School continues to offer the office (Classroom 101) and Classroom 504 for parents to rest and wait. At the same time, parents are welcome to approach all staff in the office for questions.
